Description

Create tremendous merits by sponsoring prayer ceremonies conducted during special occasions at Kechara. These auspicious events are powerful opportunities to practise generosity, purify negative karma and make strong prayers for health, protection, long life, success and spiritual growth.

Your contribution will be directed towards the puja offerings and other costs of prayers and rituals conducted by our sangha, pastors and puja team.

  • Ven. Choji-la’s Birthday (July 1) — Create the causes for Ven. Choji-la to remain with us with a 16 Arhats puja and birthday cake offering, dedicated to his good health, long life and the continued growth of his Dharma activities.
  • Dorje Shugden Day (August 24) — Give thanks to your Dharma Protector by sponsoring the annual Dorje Shugden Day prayer flag puja and receive his wish-fulfilling blessings for healing, protection and positive conditions.
  • H.H. Trijang Rinpoche’s Birthday (October 15) — Celebrate this auspicious day with a traditional Lama Chopa Tsog and birthday cake offering, dedicated to Trijang Chocktrul Rinpoche's long life and flourishing of his enlightened deeds.

Merits will be dedicated on behalf of all sponsors as part of the prayer ceremony.

Making a Donation

  1. Set a positive motivation before making a donation. The purer your intention, the greater the merit generated.
  2. Select your desired amount and type of sponsorship (where applicable).
  3. In the “Dedication” section: Provide the name of the person/entity the sponsorship is dedicated to. You can also include a specific wish or request. Our sangha/pastors/team will dedicate the merits according to your wishes.
  4. In the “Sponsor” section: Provide the name of the sponsor (benefactor). This is optional; sponsors can choose to remain anonymous.
  5. After making the donation, rejoice and dedicate the merits you have generated.
  6. From time to time, we share updates of various projects on our website and social media pages (Facebook and Instagram). Please follow us if you would like to stay informed.

Making Offerings to the Guru

Making offerings to the Guru is a core Buddhist practice. This is particularly relevant in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, where it is believed that all spiritual attainments are the result of the Guru’s blessings. It is the Guru, or spiritual teacher, who skilfully teaches the Dharma according to our aptitude and needs, helping us achieve rapid progress on the spiritual path. Without the Guru, Dharma is simply dry knowledge.

Merits are another integral part of the spiritual journey. Without merits, we will lack conducive conditions to learn and practise the Dharma. There are many ways to generate merits, and one of the best methods is by making sincere offerings to the Guru, or to great masters such as His Eminence Tsem Rinpoche.

“Giving to your Guru is the same as making continual offerings to all the Buddhas. From such giving, much merit is gathered. From such collection comes the supreme powerful attainment of Buddhahood.”

More specifically, celebrating the birthdays of holy beings and especially our gurus creates the causes for them to live long and remain with us, and that we may always be connected with them in this and future lives.

International Dorje Shugden Day is celebrated on August 24 at monasteries and Dharma centres around the world. At Kechara Forest Retreat — home of the world’s largest Dorje Shugden statue — we observe this auspicious day with offerings of prayer flags, fragrant smoke and golden drinks.
