Description

Support the Sangha of Gaden Monastery by offering one or more types of sangha robes. The tradition of wearing robes was passed down from the founder of Buddhism, Shakyamuni Buddha. The robes of a monk or nun (Sangha) are one of the holiest belongings of an ordained person. Wearing the robes represents the vows that an ordained person holds, and reflects their commitment to bring happiness and comfort, and to relieve the sufferings of others.

Thus, every day a monk or nun dons their robes and holds their vows is another day they create immeasurable merits for themselves and their sponsors. Through their virtue, they also become a source of inspiration for all who are seeking spiritual liberation.

Making a Donation

  1. Set a positive motivation before making a donation. The purer your intention, the greater the merit generated.
  2. Select your desired amount and type of sponsorship (where applicable).
  3. In the “Dedication” section: Provide the name of the person/entity the sponsorship is dedicated to. You can also include a specific wish or request. Our sangha/pastors/team will dedicate the merits according to your wishes.
  4. In the “Sponsor” section: Provide the name of the sponsor (benefactor). This is optional; sponsors can choose to remain anonymous.
  5. After making the donation, rejoice and dedicate the merits you have generated.
  6. From time to time, we share updates of various projects on our website and social media pages (Facebook and Instagram). Please follow us if you would like to stay informed.

Sponsoring the Sangha

Sangha are the community of ordained monks, nuns and lay practitioners who have devoted their lives to sharing the Buddhist tradition and serving the Buddhist community. For over 2,500 years, they have kept Buddha’s teachings alive in an unbroken lineage that is moist with his blessings. It is due to their kindness that we are able to receive the pure Dharma today.

Making dana offerings to the Sangha — which includes food, robes and basic necessities — is a mainstay of Buddhist practice. Buddha himself started the tradition of sponsoring the Sangha, showing us how we can express our appreciation for their compassionate activities.

Yangdup is a powerful wealth-summoning ritual that attracts the energies of growth and abundance. The ceremony requests the wealth deities to generate material resources, abundance and prosperity.
