Overcome problems and obstacles created by gossip, rumours, and malicious talk of all kinds. By tradition, four of the fundamental Buddhist precepts are focused on reducing the negativities related to speech. This is because words have power and can turn into physical obstacles.

On an ordinary level, gossip, rumours and lies can tarnish your image, destroy your family and create bad publicity for your business. Being the target of excessive gossip also accumulates negative energies which can manifest in unexpected obstacles and difficult situations. Rectify the situation with a special puja designed to cut the negative effects of destructive speech, restore your damaged reputation and rebuild trust.

About this Puja

The Gossip Cutting Puja counters the effects of harmful speech motivated by ill-intent, which can manifest in the form of illnesses, accidents, and challenges that obstruct our progress. It involves extensive recitations of the Dharani of Glorious Vajra Claws, based on the sadhana of the wrathful dakini Dorje Dermo, to disperse the negative energies that accumulate when we are the target of excessive gossip.

Requesting a Puja

  1. Set a positive intention before requesting the puja. The purer your intention, the greater the merit generated.
  2. Select your desired puja size, quantity and style (where applicable).
  3. In the “Dedication” section: Provide the name of the person/entity the puja is dedicated to. You can also include a specific wish or request. Our sangha, pastors and puja team will read this before/after your puja is done to dedicate merits for your wishes to be fulfilled.
  4. In the “Sponsor” section: Provide the name of the puja sponsor (benefactor). This is optional; sponsors can choose to remain anonymous.
  5. You may wish to include a photo of the person/entity the puja is being done for. This is completely optional; the puja will be equally effective regardless of whether a photo is provided or not.
  6. If you prefer your puja to be done on a specific date, please indicate in the remarks and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
  7. Your puja will be done at Kechara Forest Retreat in Bentong. If you wish to attend the puja in person, please indicate in the remarks and we will inform you once your puja is scheduled. Do note that we may not be able to accommodate specific date and time requests.
  8. After submitting your puja request, rejoice and dedicate the merits you have generated.
  9. We will inform you by email once your puja has been completed.

What happens after you request a puja?

  • After we receive your request, we’ll schedule your puja on a specific date, time and venue.
  • Any special requests will be taken into account during the scheduling, including arrangements for the puja to be done at your preferred location.
  • A day before your puja, our team prepares the necessary offerings. This includes the traditional tormas (ritual cakes) which are expertly made and decorated by hand.
  • Each torma has its own significance and different pujas require different tormas.
  • On the day of your puja, we’ll setup the altar with an image of the corresponding Buddha and the requisite offerings.
  • If you’ve provided a photo of the person/entity to whom the puja is dedicated, this will also be placed on the altar.

About Pujas

A puja is a formal set of rituals and prayers to help you overcome obstacles and create the results you’re looking for. Pujas work by purifying karma and creating merits. Merits are a special type of energy that can give you a good life situation and propel you to the highest spiritual state. What’s more, merits are superior to good karma because they won’t run out.

Pujas are traditionally performed in temples by qualified monks, nuns or lay practitioners. Each puja is centred around a specific Buddha deity, which is in turn centred around a particular aspect of enlightened activity or quality in order to fulfil a specific function.

They are done on behalf of benefactors who contribute towards the cost of the pujas and offerings. In return, the benefactor receives specific benefits such as:

  • Healing + long life
  • Better finances
  • Success in personal + business endeavours
  • Protection from seen + unseen dangers
  • Fewer obstacles + challenges
  • Favourable situations
  • Purification of past negative karma

Puja offerings

It is customary to make an offering when requesting a puja. Puja offerings are a practice of generosity which adds to the accumulation of merit and creates auspicious connections between the benefactor, the person being prayed for, the Buddha being prayed to, and the sangha/practitioners offering the prayers and pujas. Puja costs are generally determined by:

  • Puja type and size
  • The physical offerings required such as candles, flowers, incense, tormas (ritual cakes), tsog (feast offerings) and other substances
  • Token monetary offerings for monks, pastors or puja practitioners
  • Contributions to cover the running costs of the monastery/temple.

What is a puja?

Pujas are a special method to generate and direct positive energy towards a positive aspiration, through a series of rituals and prayers. These group prayers generate stronger energies than when performed by just one person, and can be done for yourself or on behalf of someone else.

Why do I need a puja? 

Pujas are an alternative solution to rectify and improve every life situation. When other remedies have failed, our pujas call upon the assistance of the awakened Buddhas to swiftly purify your obstacles, change the outcome of your karma and fulfil your wishes.

How does it work?

Pujas fundamentally work by purifying negative karma which is the source of problems and obstacles, and generating spiritual merit which creates favourable conditions for wishes to fruition. Each puja invokes a specific Buddhist deity to help you in specific ways.

What types of problems can pujas help with?

Pujas can avert and overcome three main types of obstacles.

  1. Worldly obstacles which affect daily life, relationships, financial stability, and success in career and business
  2. Inner obstacles which affect physical health and mental state
  3. Secret obstacles which obstruct spiritual attainments of wisdom and everlasting happiness
How much does it cost?

The cost varies according to the type of puja, size and frequency (depending on the severity of the case). This determines the number of practitioners, the quantity of offerings, and other incidental costs. Pujas start from RM300. You can opt for small or medium-scale pujas done on a one-off, monthly, weekly or daily basis according to your needs.

How many people are needed?

Pujas at our puja house are performed by a minimum of four practitioners and a maximum of 12. Pujas at the monastery can be performed on a more elaborate scale with up to 600 monks. The scale of the puja depends on the purpose of the puja, the gravity of the obstacle, and your needs and wishes.

Do I need to be a Buddhist?

No, you don’t have to be a Buddhist to have pujas done for you or others. Buddhas are awakened beings who will help anyone regardless of faith, culture, social class or origin.

Are pujas safe?

Rest assured that our pujas are safe. Buddhas are fully enlightened and will never cause harm to you or any other being. Buddhas do not require anything from you in return for their assistance.

What determines a puja's effectiveness?

On your part, you should request your puja with good motivation for positive aspirations and without harmful intentions. On our part, we conduct the puja rituals properly according to an authentic tradition and lineage, with all the requisite offerings and substances.

Which puja is right for me?

You can choose from our list of pujas based on your wishes and problems. If you’re uncertain which puja is best for you, we’re happy to aid you with the selection process.

What if I want a puja that's not on your list?

If you require a specific puja that’s not part of our repertoire, we can make special arrangements for your puja to be performed at our affiliated monasteries. Please contact us if you have a special request. 

How soon is the puja performed?

As soon as we receive your request and other necessary information, we’ll begin the preparations to perform your puja within two weeks. For critical situations, emergency pujas are available upon request.

Can I choose a particular date for the puja?

We’re happy to accommodate special requests subject to the availability of our puja team.

Who does the puja?

Your puja will be performed by a team of Buddhist practitioners who are qualified and trained by ritual masters from Gaden Monastery.

Where is the puja performed?

In general, your puja will be done at Kechara Forest Retreat in Bentong or Kechara House in Petaling Jaya. Certain types of pujas such as house blessings, altar consecrations and bereavement services will be done on-site.

Can the puja be done at the place of my choice?

You may request for your puja to be done at the place of your choice, subject to the availability of our puja team. Additional fees may apply and vary according to location.

Can I attend the puja?

Absolutely! We welcome your presence and you will physically feel the positive energies from the puja. Please contact us in advance to make the necessary arrangements. 

What should I do on the day of the puja?

You don’t need to make special arrangements on the day of the puja. If you wish, you may choose to be vegetarian for the day, or recite short prayers or mantras associated with your puja. We would be glad to provide additional guidance, please get in touch with us.

How soon will the effect be felt? Is success guaranteed?

Although many have found immediate relief and success, severe cases may require time to overcome the problem. Regular pujas are suggested for complex cases that persist for a prolonged period.
